Women are taking their rightful place in UNI Americas
Theresa Mortimer, Vice-President of UNI Americas Women and the first female President of the BFSU in the Bahamas, is a leading example for women in trade unions.
“Women are great agents of change. Today, we are more than certain that women are taking their rightful places in leadership position in UNI Americas,” said Mortimer at the UNI Americas Conference. “We are working to ensure that women are treated equally and that there is a change in the rhetoric surrounding gender equality.”
Mortimer believes that every woman in the world has the power to be an agent of change in the world: “This is the reason we have come to Colombia, because women have played a pivotal role in building peace and unity in the country.”
As Vice-President of UNI Americas Women, Mortimer, addressing the UNI Americas’ conference, invited trade union women all around the world to fight to build a new, fairer world.
