Merci Senegal! – Liverpool offers a warm « Teranga » to the UNI World Conference 2018
The 4th UNI Africa Regional Conference ended on a high note, wrapping up a cycle of successful regional conferences in the lead up to next year’s World Congress in Liverpool.
UNI General Secretary Philip Jennings paid tribute to the Senegalese hosts, UNI Africa and all those involved in the conference. "Senegal translates as 'Our Boat' and I'm pleased to say that our UNI Africa boat is in good shape under the new leadership of Keith Jacobs and Ndéye Founé Niang, the first female President of UNI Africa."
Jennings said that the new UNI Africa Regional Secretary, Keith Jacobs was the right person for the task ahead. "Keith has been preparing for this job all his life. He brings with him the fighting spirit of his anti-apartheid heritage including his time in prison. Keith is a fighter and he will take UNI Africa forward."
UNI Global Union urged UNI Africa affiliates to participate in the UNI World Congress 2018 and assured them of warm Liverpool-style “Scouse Teranga” welcome.
Thank you very much Senegal and our Senegalese affiliates who made this best ever UNI Africa Conference possible.
