UNI GS urges new Korea President to release Bro. Han
UNI Global Union General Secretary, Philip Jennings, with the full backing of the UNI Management Committee and the entire UNI family, has asked President Moon Jae-in to ensure that KCTU President Han Sang-gyun is freed immediately.
In a letter to the Korea President, Jennings said that the release of Bro. Han and his colleagues would be a sure sign to the international community that Korea has returned to the path of full democracy following the impeachment and removal of former President Park Geun-hye.
The UNI GS pointed out that Bro Han and more than 20 of his trade union colleagues had been wrongfully imprisoned for exercising their legitimate right to protest, under President Park’s corrupt regime.
Jennings, speaking from the L20 Labour Ministers meeting ahead of the G20 in Berlin, said that the L20 will present the case for Bro. Han’s release to the G20 Labour ministers this week and also to the G20 leaders themselves.
“The global momentum continues to build for Bro. Han’s release - we won't stop that's our message to the G20, “ vowed Jennings.
