The issue of doping dominated the build up to the Rio Olympics and has rumbled on through the Games. In an interview with Australia’s ABC radio, Head of UNI World Athletes, Brendan Schwab said there was an alternative to the present discredited global anti-doping system: the professional anti-doping programme adopted by America’s Major League baseball programme.

Schwab said the global anti-doping system clearly needed a total overhaul as it was unjust, conflicted and inherently politicized. He added there were many examples where athletes were being targeted as cheats, even when there was no evidence.
