Historic Amazon shareholders’ vote on freedon of association and collective bargaining

The following statement on Amazon shareholders’ meeting can  be attributed to Christy Hoffman, General Secretary of UNI Global Union:

“Today’s historic vote is in itself a strong message to Amazon: Management must start listening, first to the workers who made Bezos megarich, and then to the growing shareholder community demanding fundamental rights for workers,” said Christy Hoffman, General Secretary of UNI Global Union. “In 2022, investors are starting to signal that corporations need to get real about enforcing international labour standards—including the right to form and join unions.

Representing more than 20 million workers in 150 countries, NI Global Union and UNI Europa are driven by the responsibility to ensure skills and service jobs are decent jobs and that workers’ rights are protected, including the right of union representation and collective bargaining
