Live Performance Social Dialogue Committee adopts joint positions on Revised Visa Code and Eco-efficient Lighting

The European Social Dialogue Committee in the Live Performance Sector met in Brussels on 11 June 2018. The group was joined by a representative of DG Energy to discuss the Review of the Ecodesign Regulation and more specifically the future of the exemption on stage lighting. This allowed the social partners to discuss in detail the effects and potential negative impact of a blanket ban on certain forms of stage lighting, but also to explore possibilities of a more workable solution. The social partners adopted a joint position to express their willingness to continue this dialogue.

The social partners also held an exchange on the Commission proposal to amend European visa regulations. The Live Performance sector is a highly mobile sector, with crews from all over the world regularly touring in Europe. The social partners welcomed many of the improvements proposed by the Commission, but also expressed their concerns in particular regarding the changes that are proposed to the application procedure of a multi-entry visa. The social partners feel the proposed procedure would unduly complicate the system and affect those who need such a visa for their professional activity.

Please see below for both of these joint positions.

The next meeting of the Social Dialogue Committee in the Live Performance Sector will be the plenary meeting, taking place on 9 October 2018.
