UNI Apro condemns trade unionists arrest in Philippines on Human Rights Day

UNI Apro expresses grave concerns over the Philippines Government’s brazen, irrational, and brutish move to arrest six trade unionists and one journalist on International Human Rights Day.

We deplore this intensified crackdown targeting trade union activists and human rights defenders who are exercising peaceful and legitimate means to express their demands and organising workers into unions and associations. It is alarming that the government is not putting its full attention to resolve the problems arising from the pandemic but are instead creating a more divisive society at this very moment.

UNI Apro stands in solidarity with all unions in the Philippines. We call on the Philippines Government to immediately release the human rights defenders arrested on trumped up charges!
