The agreement will see ISS funding a pilot project in the Greater Jakarta market, where UNI will define an evidence-based living wage, organize workers in the industry, and engage them in coordinated bargaining.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div>\r\n<p>&#8220;UNI Global Union is proud to partner with ISS on this important initiative to pay living wages and improve the welfare of workers in the soft facility services market,&#8221; said Eddy Stam, head of UNI Property Services. &#8220;We believe that everyone deserves fair compensation and a decent standard of living, and this pilot project in the Greater Jakarta market is a significant step in that direction. By defining an evidence-based living wage and organizing workers to engage in coordinated bargaining, we can create a more just and sustainable business environment for all.&#8221;<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div>\r\n<p>The project will kick off in the coming weeks, starting with research as the first building block of this campaign. ISS Indonesia, which employs 45,000 people, over 20,000 of them in the Greater Jakarta area, will be the focus of the project. In many cases,\u00a0wages in the sector are known to be very low and with\u00a0the cost of living crisis and soaring energy and consumer prices across the world, their situation has only worsened.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div>\r\n<p>At the signing ceremony in Copenhagen, Group Chief People &amp; Culture Corrina Refsgaard and UNI Property Services head Eddy Stam expressed their commitment to this important initiative. The soft facility services market is highly competitive, and it is crucial to prioritize the well-being of workers to ensure a fair and sustainable business environment.
