{"id":10221,"date":"2023-04-24T17:11:54","date_gmt":"2023-04-24T15:11:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uniglobalunion.org\/?post_type=news&#038;p=10221"},"modified":"2023-04-24T17:22:24","modified_gmt":"2023-04-24T15:22:24","slug":"uni-americas-launches-survey-on-discrimination-and-harassment-for-lgbti-and-afro-colombian-workers","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/uniglobalunion.org\/news\/uni-americas-launches-survey-on-discrimination-and-harassment-for-lgbti-and-afro-colombian-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"UNI Americas launches survey on discrimination and harassment for LGBTI+ and Afro-Colombian workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">UNI Americas is launching a survey to understand the impact of violence, discrimination and harassment on LGBTI+ and Afro-Colombian workers, focusing on the commerce and telecommunications industry sectors in Colombia.<\/div>\r\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">UNI will use the responses to get a fuller understanding of problems in the country but also to train trade union leaders on including a gender and anti-discrimination, anti-violence and anti-harassment approach in their collective bargaining processes.<\/div>\r\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">&#8220;The survey is an important step towards addressing the issues faced by Afro-Colombian and LGBTI+ workers in these sectors so that the trade union movement can represent their interests in collective bargaining,&#8221; said Andrea Garc\u00eda, Coordinator of UNI Americas Equal Opportunities.<\/div>\r\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"x_ContentPasted0\">Garc\u00eda noted that UNI and Colombian unions will also use the research &#8220;to show the Colombian state the importance of ratifying the ILO Convention 190.&#8221;\u00a0 C190 recognizes the right of everyon to have a workplace free of violence and harassment. The unions will incorporate the survey data into their campaign to combat discrimination, violence and harassment at work suffered by these vulnerable groups.<\/div>\r\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\r\n<div
