UNI Global Union’s Africa Executive Committee stands in support of postal workers in Morocco, and calls on the Poste Maroc group to honour a wage increase that was due to come into effect in July.

The promise of a general pay rise of 120 euros a month for all categories of staff was made in an agreement between the government and the Union Marocaine du Travail on behalf of its affiliate the Fédération Nationale de Poste et Logistique (FNPL), in April this year.

FNPL is also asking for Poste Maroc to reinstate 450 subcontracted postal workers and honour its social agreements with the union.

Despite strike action, Poste Maroc is refusing to engage with the union in good faith.

FNPL-UMT are planning a protest march in September and will stage a general strike if there is no progress.
