The following statement on Amazon’s decision to leave Quebec, can be attributed to Christy Hoffman, General Secretary of UNI Global Union.<\/div>\r\n

“It is disgraceful that Amazon has decided to\u00a0close its warehouses in Quebec, rather than\u00a0go to the bargaining table.\u00a0The company wants to scare workers across the world away from organizing.\u00a0But this desperate move will only bring more attention to the fact that- just as it does in Germany and New York- Amazon\u00a0will take desperate moves\u00a0to avoid bargaining. Workers and their allies everywhere are watching and will fight back. This fight is not just about the 1,700 jobs lost in Quebec\u2014it is about defending the dignity of work everywhere.\u201d<\/div>\r\n
