UNI Global Union\u2019s affiliate in Turkey, Koop-Is, signed the first ever collective agreement for Nike workers in the country.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
The agreement, which will cover 263 workers in 11 Nike stores, makes major advances regarding wages and work\/life balance. The win follows Koop-is’ successful negotiations with\u00a0H&M collective in 2019\u00a0and is part of an ongoing effort to raise standards in Turkey\u2019s fashion retail sector.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
\u201cThe agreement we signed for Nike workers and the progress we have made will help to build union strength in the sector,\u201d\u00a0collective said\u00a0Eyup Alemdar, the President of Koop-Is.\u00a0\u201cOur union has become the hope for thousands of precarious retail workers who work long hours with low pay but without job security.\u201d<\/p>\r\n
\u00a0The collective agreement will be in place for three years and\u00a0provides workers with:\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
