This delegation garnered widespread media coverage, helping to guarantee transparency, generate public confidence in democratic participation, and protect election results from a right-wing push for a recount after the initial count showed major gains for progressive political parties.<\/p>\r\n<p>But the work is not over.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong><u>CALL TO ACTION<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>On May 29, Colombia will hold the first round of Presidential elections, which will then go to a second round on June 19 if no candidate receives more than 50% of votes. More than one million Colombians living outside of Colombia will vote at consulates or embassies around the globe, where many irregularities were documented during March 13 elections.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Join us to protect democracy and democratic rights in Colombia by providing electoral observation during the presidential elections at the Colombian consulate or embassy <u>in your country of residence<\/u>! <\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>What you need to know:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>You must speak basic Spanish and participate in a Zoom training prior to certification.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>You must register with Colombian organization Mision de Observacion Electroal <u>before May 6<\/u>, here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.internacional.moecolombia.org\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">https:\/\/www.internacional.moecolombia.org\/<\/a>.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>This registration will start the process to become certified by the Colombian authority, Consejo Nacional Electoral, to observe May 29 and\/or June 19 elections.
