UNI made history in March 2022 when 80 leaders representing affiliates traveled to Colombia<\/a> to observe voting during the legislative and presidential primaries. This delegation garnered widespread media coverage, helping to guarantee transparency, generate public confidence in democratic participation, and protect election results from a right-wing push for a recount after the initial count showed major gains for progressive political parties.<\/p>\r\n But the work is not over.<\/p>\r\n CALL TO ACTION<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\r\n On May 29, Colombia will hold the first round of Presidential elections, which will then go to a second round on June 19 if no candidate receives more than 50% of votes.
