UNI made history in March 2022 when 80 leaders representing affiliates traveled to Colombia to observe voting during the legislative and presidential primaries. This delegation garnered widespread media coverage, helping to guarantee transparency, generate public confidence in democratic participation, and protect election results from a right-wing push for a recount after the initial count showed major gains for progressive political parties.

But the work is not over.

CALL TO ACTION

On May 29, Colombia will hold the first round of Presidential elections, which will then go to a second round on June 19 if no candidate receives more than 50% of votes. More than one million Colombians living outside of Colombia will vote at consulates or embassies around the globe, where many irregularities were documented during March 13 elections.

Join us to protect democracy and democratic rights in Colombia by providing electoral observation during the presidential elections at the Colombian consulate or embassy in your country of residence!
