This 1 May, International Labour Day, workers around the world are confronting many crises\u2014the COVID-19 pandemic; skyrocketing costs of living; the ravages of war; and ever-increasing inequality.<\/p>\r\n
However, there are still plenty of reasons for hope.<\/p>\r\n
In her May Day message, UNI General Secretary Christy Hoffman points to a renewed commitment to transforming standards for workers and repairing societies torn apart by inequalities.<\/p>\r\n
But these changes will not come easily. If we are to \u201chave a world of shared prosperity, not a gold mine for the super-rich,\u201d she says, we must harness technology so it works for all working people. We must build global solidarity. We must demand peace. We must create a new social contract.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
And we must organize!<\/p>\r\n
