The FSU Human Rights Network is inviting trade unions to show their support for democracy in Myanmar at a webinar on 28 July. The event will feature the inspiring story of resistance by activists on the ground and detail how affiliates can help restore justice in Myanmar.

The network, spearheaded by UNI Global Union’s affiliate, the FSU Australia, was launched in September 2021 to hold financial institutions in Australia to account for a range of important issues around corporations’ obligations to observe the rights of workers and the communities they serve.

This event echoes the call made at the 30th UNI APRO Executive Committee Meeting in their statement on 20 April 2022, which urged all international and regional businesses to enhance their business and human rights due diligence to ensure that they are not complicit in financing the junta to enable them to perpetrate gross human rights violations against the people of Myanmar.
