UNI condemns this attack, carried out by terrorists and the extreme right-wing supporters of former President Bolsonaro. This was a blatant attack against Brazilian democracy, and it is another disgraceful addition to the global trend of election denial and the undermining of democratic institutions that we have seen too often around the world in recent years.<\/p>\r\n<p>We fully support the demand that the government of the Federal District, its security forces and the commanders of the military police be held accountable for what happened. We also condemn the complicity of those in positions of power around the country who continue to allow these anti-democratic and terrorist acts to continue.<\/p>\r\n<p>We demand the full application of the law, and appropriate punishment and sanction, for all those who take part, lead and finance these acts, disrespecting the popular will of the 60 million Brazilians who elected Lula president.<\/p>\r\n<p>We reinforce our commitment to continue supporting our affiliated unions in Brazil, as well as all the actions promoted by the government of President Lula da Silva that seek to support the poorest people in society, reinforce respect for labor rights and protect the environment. The Brazilian people, and especially the poor and workers, have suffered greatly since the 2016 coup and there is no more space in the country for actions that openly create instability in the process of rebuilding Brazil and its image to the world.<\/p>\r\n<p>UNI calls upon all authorities to respect democracy and the democratically elected government, and we will continue to act to protect our rights and freedoms in Brazil and around the world.<\/p>\r\n<p><em>Coup d\u2019\u00e9tat never again!<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>UNI condena o ataque \u00e0 Democracia Brasileira<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>UNI Global Union e suas afiliadas, que representam mais de 20 milh\u00f5es de trabalhadores em todo o mundo, condenam veementemente os atos de viol\u00eancia pol\u00edtica e destrui\u00e7\u00e3o de patrim\u00f4nio p\u00fablico testemunhados neste domingo, 8 de janeiro, em Bras\u00edlia. A UNI condena este ataque, perpetrado por terroristas e partid\u00e1rios de extrema direita do ex-presidente Bolsonaro. Este foi um ataque flagrante contra a democracia brasileira, e \u00e9 mais um cap\u00edtulo vergonhoso da tend\u00eancia global de nega\u00e7\u00e3o de elei\u00e7\u00f5es e enfraquecimento das institui\u00e7\u00f5es democr\u00e1ticas que temos visto com muita frequ\u00eancia em todo o mundo nos \u00faltimos anos.<\/p>\r\n<p>Apoiamos plenamente a reivindica\u00e7\u00e3o de que o governo do Distrito Federal, suas for\u00e7as de seguran\u00e7a e os comandantes das pol\u00edcias militares sejam responsabilizados pelo ocorrido. Tamb\u00e9m condenamos a cumplicidade daqueles que ocupam posi\u00e7\u00f5es de poder em todo o pa\u00eds que continuam permitindo que esses atos antidemocr\u00e1ticos e terroristas continuem.<\/p>\r\n<p>Exigimos a plena aplica\u00e7\u00e3o da lei, e as devidas puni\u00e7\u00f5es e san\u00e7\u00f5es, a todos aqueles que participam, dirigem e financiam esses atos, desrespeitando a vontade popular dos 60 milh\u00f5es de brasileiros que elegeram Lula presidente.<\/p>\r\n<p>Refor\u00e7amos nosso compromisso de continuar apoiando nossos sindicatos filiados no Brasil, bem como todas as a\u00e7\u00f5es promovidas pelo governo do Presidente Lula da Silva que buscam apoiar os mais pobres da sociedade, refor\u00e7ar o respeito aos direitos trabalhistas e proteger o meio ambiente.
