UNI Apro condemns the heinous attacks on the innocent congregations of Easter Sunday masses and holidaymakers in Sri Lanka. The attack has now claimed more than 350 lives. We express our deepest condolences to all the victims and their families and pray for the speedy recovery of the survivors.
UNI Apro Regional Secretary, Christopher Ng said, “After almost ten years of relative peace since the cessation of a decades long civil war, it is extremely saddening to learn of the devastating attacks in Sri Lanka on Sunday. UNI Apro stands ready in solidarity to support our Sri Lankan affiliates in their efforts to help recover, rebuild, and rehabilitate their communities toward a peaceful society”.
UNI Apro urges the Sri Lankan government to take immediate steps to ensure the security and safety for all communities living in Sri Lanka especially in this time of uncertainty. The authorities should also act swiftly to fully investigate and bring the perpretrators responsible to justice.
