UNI Global Union’s Post&Logistics sector, which represents 140 trade unions and 2.5 million workers in 83 countries, is launching an in-depth research project into last-mile delivery.
In the context of a traditional but fast-changing postal sector, UNI Post&Logistics is looking for a research team who to support postal unions in their journey ahead to raise standards in this increasingly important area.
The research title for the project is: The organization of work in the last-mile delivery.
The decision to conduct a global study on the organization of last-mile delivery to support local unions with information on this segment of the industry is based on the need of trade unions to have an overview about the organisation of work, salaries and working conditions in the last-mile delivery.
The aim is to provide unions with the relevant information to build influence with companies and politicians to improve their situation, safeguard working conditions in the whole industry and stop the race-to-the-bottom in terms of collective bargaining by engaging in meaningful social dialogue for that specific market segment.
