In a historic achievement for the Czech tech sector, workers at the Brno branch of Moravia IT—recently acquired by UK-based RWS Group—have secured their collective agreement, marking the first collective agreement of the ICT Union in Czechia.

“We are proud of what we’ve achieved in these negotiations. Our goal is to continuously improve working conditions and contribute to a positive company environment,” said Luboš Andrlík, ICT Union’s chairman.

The agreement introduces a range of new provisions aimed at strengthening employee protections and fostering a more balanced relationship between workers and management, including:

•              Strengthened employee rights and legal protections

•              Clear and transparent processes for communication and cooperation with management

•              Enhanced benefits beyond the statutory minimum

•              A formal structure for ongoing dialogue between leadership and staff

The deal comes after months of negotiations led by the ICT Union, a union formed in late 2023 with the support of COZZ, UNI Global Union’s organizing center in the region, and affiliated with OS PPP (Trade Union of Banking and Insurance Employees). This bargaining agreement represents more than just a win for the employees at Moravia IT—it lays the groundwork for broader unionization efforts in the country’s fast-growing but traditionally hard-to-organize tech industry.

“This first agreement is a huge breakthrough—not only for the workers in Moravia IT and Brno but for the entire Czech tech sector,” said Benjamin Parton, Head of ICTS at UNI Global Union. “With ICT Union emerging as the home for tech workers in Czechia, the message is clear: collective action works.”

With several other organizing efforts underway, the success in Brno is likely to inspire more tech workers to come together and fight for fairer, more secure working conditions.
