Dyson shop workers in Türkiye, organized under the KOOP-İŞ Union, have had enough with the home appliance company’s delays. That’s why they rallied today in front of an Istanbul store demanding respect for their right to collectively bargain.
Chanting “We will fight until we win!” and holding signs reading “Stop denying collective bargaining” and “Dyson workers are not alone,” workers made clear their commitment to keep fighting for the wages and conditions they deserve.
Murat Turkekul, executive committee member of KOOP-İŞ, addressed the protest:
“We call on Dyson to respect the constitutional and legal rights of its workers in Türkiye. It’s time to sit at the collective bargaining table. KOOP-İŞ will not back down until justice is served.”
KOOP-İŞ launched a successful organizing campaign in 2024, becoming the official bargaining representative for Dyson’s roughly 300 employees across 30 stores in Turkey. The Ministry of Labour certified KOOP-İŞ as the collective bargaining agent late last year.
However, Dyson Turkey’s management filed a legal objection to the certification, effectively blocking all negotiations. The case could drag on for three-to-five years in court, depriving workers of their legal right to bargain collectively.
A solidarity message from Mathias Bolton, Head of UNI Commerce, was also shared:
“Dyson must immediately withdraw its baseless objection and start collective bargaining with Koop-İş. We urge Dyson’s global management to respect workers’ rights. Until an agreement is signed, our support will not waver. Victory to the workers!”
At the end of the protest, Koop-Is has vowed to continue its legal and public actions until negotiations begin.
