Hundreds of employees at Evolution Gaming in Georgia are on strike today, 12 July. The strike is initiated by UNI Global Union Georgian affiliate, Labor, which organizes online dealers and game presenters through EVO union.

Evolution Gaming Georgia employs over 7,000 people, and more than 4,000 have signed up in support of the walk-out. A well as wanting to improve wages, working conditions and benefits, workers want to be treated with respect and dignity, which they say is badly lacking at the company.

At midday, on 12 July, employees stopped work and joined the pre-mobilized strike group around the company’s premises in Tbilisi.

The decision to strike follows a comprehensive legal process that included a 21-day mediation period ending without agreement on 25 June. The company received a formal strike notice three days prior to the strike.

UNI’s gaming sector supports the striking workers and calls on Evolution Gaming to immediately start negotiations with the union in good faith.

“We stand with our members in their fight for fair treatment and better working conditions,” said Giedre Lelyte, Head of the Gaming at UNI. ” This collective action signifies a strong and unified front against the issues they face. It is imperative that Evolution Gaming stops stalling and engages in meaningful dialogue to resolve these issues as soon as possible.”
