The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated digitalization in the world of work. Supported by artificial intelligence, new forms of automation, algorithmic management and data collection have transformed workplaces in every economic sector. Remote work has risen to a level never seen before, bringing long wanted flexibility for some but also risks, including increased e-surveillance, longer hours and lack of access to unions.
